Our Principal
Mrs. Kate Daniel is honored to join the incredible Del Mar Heights school community for the 2025-2026 school year! This year marks Mrs. Daniel's 20th year as an educator, and she brings a wide range of experience from her various roles within the Del Mar Union School District, where she has served as a classroom teacher, Innovation Technologist, and Assistant Principal. Her experience extends to facilitating professional learning for other educators both within the Del Mar Union School District and at various educator conferences throughout the county of San Diego. Mrs. Daniel is deeply passionate about innovative instructional practices and is well-regarded for her collaborative approach. She is dedicated to fostering a warm, caring, and joyful school community at Del Mar Heights.
Originally from the Philadelphia suburbs, Mrs. Daniel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater and was actively involved in various choral ensembles and theatrical productions. After moving to San Diego, she began her teaching career and earned a Master of Arts in Education. Her credentials include a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, a Supplementary Teaching Credential in Drama, and an Administrative Services Credential.
Beyond her professional life, Mrs. Daniel loves to travel, camp, and hike with her family. You might even spot her at Del Mar’s Dog Beach playing fetch with her Goldendoodle! She also enjoys singing, playing tennis, and attending local concerts and theater productions. Mrs. Daniel loves to learn and is often reading a new book, picking up a new musical instrument, or listening to an interesting podcast. She believes that fostering a love of learning is integral to a student’s extraordinary school experience.
Mrs. Daniel is eager to build strong relationships with the students, staff, and families of Del Mar Heights, and she is excited to become a part of its rich history that spans over six decades.
